Ingredients for SOFT IDLY Recipes

Method of preparation for SOFT IDLY Recipes:

Wash and soak urad dal and rice separately for 3-4 hours. Grind them separately by adding required quantity of water. Mix idly rava, urad dal and salt for taste. The batter should not be watery and it should be fermented for 16-18 hours. The fermented batter should be cooked for 10-15 min in greased moulds and soft idly will be ready to eat.

Serve hot with coconut chutney, Sambar or tomato chutney.

    I live in India, and the climate is too hot nowadays, say 38deg (approx), Will I put the idly mixture ouside the fridge for overnight to ferment it? Please help

    In summer, idli mixture generally takes 2-3 hours to ferment. You don’t need to leave it overnight. Thank you for your response and keep visiting our sites.
