Indian Recipe : Dum Aloo

Ingredients for Dum Aloo

  • Potatoes – 250 grams
  • Tomatoes – 100 gram
  • Spice mixture (Roasted and Powdered cardamom, cinnamon, cloves, black pepper, cumin, coriander & nutmeg) – ½ tsp
  • Coriander powder – 1 ½ tsp
  • Cumin seeds – ¼ tsp
  • Asafoetida – a pinch
  • Red chilly powder – ½ tsp
  • Turmeric powder – ½ tsp
  • Oil – 2 tsp
  • Salt – 1 tsp
  • Coriander leaves – 1 tsp
  • Preparation Method for Dum Aloo

  • Peel the potatoes and cut them into a small cubes.
  • Prepare tomato paste and keep it aside.
  • After heating oil in the pressure cooker, add asafoetida and cumin seeds together.
  • Next add tomato paste and cook for a few minutes.
  • Now add potatoes and cook for another 2 minutes.
  • Add coriander powder, salt, red chilly, turmeric powder and spice mixture and combine.
  • Now add 2 glass of water.
  • Cover it with lid.
  • After one whistle let it simmer for 5 to 7 minutes.
  • Place the curry in a serving bowl and garnish with coriander leaves.
  • It is ready to be served.
